After two developer previews, this is the first release aimed at the general public. While we know a lot about what to anticipate from Google's upcoming mobile operating system, more information will undoubtedly be revealed at the company's annual developer conference in the near future.

Some quite mundane topics are covered in the blog article that highlights the improvements in today's release. By default, apps will draw behind the transparent system bars at the top and bottom of the screen instead of around them, and they will scale edge to edge. App archiving and unarchiving is supported at the OS level, allowing third-party app stores to leverage this capability. Additionally, Android 15 will support Braille displays better.

Beyond that, there's a lot more going on subsequently, much of it appears focused on improving the hardware-software interoperability. Additionally, there have been hints of some more significant developments that will undoubtedly be shown during this year's Google I/O. It looks like satellite messaging is available, and desktop mode may be becoming more DeX-like. As Google I/O is less than a month away, we'll find out all the information, soon enough.
