LG's Strange TV-Speaker Hybrid Reveals Its Insides at CES 2024 combining 1950's tech

Without strange ideas like MP3 taser holsters and vacuum shoes, CES would not be the headline-grabber it is every year. LG's new DukeBox, a hybrid tube-speaker TV device, will join this distinguished list at CES 2024.

The LG DukeBox speaker system consists of a top 360-degree speaker and two bottom front-facing speakers. Vacuum tubes, visible from behind the transparent OLED front panel, power the speakers.

According to LG, the screen may be used to view movies or to "create a cozy fireplace ambiance with the vacuum tube visible amidst the flickering flames." Vacuum tubes are mostly used in audiophile and other high-end audio circles to create a cleaner, more detailed audio enhancement experience, giving warmer, "sweeter" harmonics. Assuming that the triple speakers integrated into the DukeBox shell are functioning properly, the auditory experience ought to sound rather remarkable.

The DukeBox looks to be an idea rather than a genuine product at the moment, so pricing and availability are likely some time away.
