The big 2023 Update for Windows 11 is now available: This is the latest

Only a few days after Microsoft published the current Version 4 Update for Windows 11 users, which added a slew of new features and enhancements to Windows 11 version 22H2, the firm also released the massive annual Windows 11 2023 Update (also known as Windows 11 version 23H2).

"Because Windows 11, version 23H2 shares the same code base and servicing branch as Windows 11, version 22H2, this feature update will be delivered via Windows Update (as with the monthly update process) to enable a quick installation," Microsoft says in a statement.

Surprisingly, most of the new capabilities of Windows 11 version 23H2 will be delivered to Windows 11 users via the Moment 4 Update for Windows 11 version 22H2, which is now available as a beta update via KB5031455. The Windows Update settings must be opened in order to activate the "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available" option.

Windows 11 Version 23H2 vs. Windows 11 22H2 Moment 4 Update

On November 14, which is "Patch Tuesday," the Moment 4 update will subsequently be made available to every Windows 11 user. A subsequent, more modest upgrade is scheduled for the coming weeks, which will bring a few more capabilities and bump Windows 11 up to version 23H2 from version 22H2.

The release date of the 2023 Update for all Windows 11 users globally has not been disclosed by Microsoft. Based on past experiences, it should take a few weeks, if not months, for it to be installed on every PC. In order to put the new Windows 11 version on the PCs and laptops they build, OEM manufacturers will be the first to obtain it.

Microsoft's Windows Update ensures compatibility with new hardware drivers and applications, ensuring the 23H2 update is delivered only after manufacturer adjustments are made.

Windows 11’s 2023 Update: What's New ?

Microsoft says that in the future, instead of "Chat," "Microsoft Teams (free)" will be pinned to the taskbar. All Windows 11 system components are labeled "System" in the Start menu under "All Apps."

The 2023 Update for Windows 11 also contains a useful adjustment that will help you keep organized: Only programs and games that you have installed will be displayed in Settings -> Apps -> Installed Apps. Any installed and necessary components by Windows 11 will be separated into Settings -> System -> System Components.

Microsoft's Windows 11 2023 Update, known as "Moment 4," offers extensive improvements in various areas such as the start menu, taskbar, file explorer, security, and settings and Bluetooth. Key features include native support for rar, 7z, and tar file formats, a volume mixer, catalogs in file explorer, Windows Backup app, passkey support, extended phishing protection, and dynamic lighting control for devices.
