Apple iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max Review: Should You Really Buy It?

When buying a new phone, you will most likely think of two sorts of features: On the one hand, there are the things that others are likely to notice, such as a new design or color. On the other point, there is facts that you, yourself, will come across.

Somehow nothing about this year's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max calls out "new iPhone" from afar. They're not game changers; they're only a little bit better than what came before them in a variety of modest but significant ways.

As per Apple, On the chassis of the iPhone Pro, titanium, a robust, resilient, yet lightweight metal, has taken the role of stainless steel. It has an aura of refinement and elegance thanks to the brushed titanium frame and the textured matte glass on the rear. Although it is not something that is seen from a distance, it is far finer than steel. You will, however, undoubtedly note that these new Pros are lightweight. Extremely light. The exact weight of the iPhone 15 Pro is 6.60 ounces, compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max's 7.81 ounces.

In comparison to previous year's versions, the sides of both phones are very slightly curved. They still have an iPhone-like flat edge and feel a little more comfortable in the hand, but they don't quite have it. The display size stays the same: the 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen, while the Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen.

Goodbye, Lightning! Hello, USB Type C!

Thanks to EU authorities, another new feature that won’t wow your Android-touting friends is all four iPhone 15 models include USB-C, but only the 15 Pro and Pro Max are USB 3 compliant. If you have a USB 10Gbps cable, you can experience the faster file transfer speed, otherwise you are not allowed because the one in the package only supports USB 2 transfer speeds. How terrific, right? With a more than $1,000 phone, that would be really wonderful to include.

P.S. - By connecting the USB-C AirPods Pro and the Apple Watch to your iPhone, you can now charge them.

Additionally, the Pro now has a new Action Button in place of the previous mute toggle switch. Due to its adaptability, it is a superior option in every manner. Even while you may still configure it to toggle sound, you can now use it to activate a flashlight, camera, or custom shortcut in addition to toggling sound.

Apple’s new A17 Pro chip

 Apple's new 3nm A17 Pro

The A17 Pro, the latest SoC found in Apple's 15 Pro models, is receiving a lot of attention. Not Bionic, but Pro. It is the first 3-nanometer chip, allowing for greater power while using less battery. But despite Apple's claims that the CPU is 10% quicker, the real advancements have been fairly modest.

The A17 Pro includes an entirely new GPU that enables hardware-based ray tracing and helps photorealistic games like Resident Evil Village operate more like they do on a console. It is usually unclear what Apple believes "Pro" implies in this context beyond "good at games," though.

27W Charging  Speed, Same As iPhone 14 Lineup

The maximum charging speed for the iPhone 15 series is still 27W when using a cable charger, which is the same as the iPhone 14 despite its new charging connector. Additionally, there are the standard 15W wireless through MagSafe and 7.5W via Qi.

Dynamic Island Is Back This Year, Too

Dynamic Island, our new-old buddy, comes back this year on all iPhone 15 models, and it functions exactly as it did on the 14 Pro. When you plug in a USB accessory, you'll notice a small blue symbol appear. If you're coming from a phone other than an iPhone 14 Pro, this will most likely be a pleasant update.

Let's Zoom The Scene

Since only the iPhone 15 Pro Max features the new, 5x telephoto camera, the cameras on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are superior in almost every manner to those on last year's phones.

Similar to the models from the previous year, the new phones' cameras have the same resolution (48 megapixels for the primary camera, 12 megapixels for the telephoto and ultra-wide cameras). However, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max capture 24-megapixel images by default, whilst the 14 Pro models take 12-megapixel photos. The new iPhone really takes shots at various resolutions when you snap a picture, extracting all the info it can from them, and then turns the result into a gorgeous 24-megapixel image that is clear and detailed.

There's also an intriguing new piece of hardware: the 15 Pro Max's brand-new 5x telephoto lens. It replaces the 3x zoom that is still available on the 15 Pro. It's a 120mm comparable with AF and sensor-shift stabilization.

On the Pro Max, the 5x zoom works well and makes sense. This year, the 2x crop zoom option is back, and with it, a 3x lens feels a bit unnecessary. If you want to experiment with compression or frame a picture of that famous bridge without a lot of background clutter, a 5x lens will bring distant items noticeably closer to you.

There are a few of different "lenses" available for the Pro models this year, but they reside in software instead of on the rear of the phone. Aside from the main camera's 24mm focal length, there are also 28mm and 35mm choices. Both of these may be chosen as the default primary camera focal length by touching the 1x icon in the camera app, and you can cycle among them.

Additionally, the new phones can shoot films in Cinematic mode up to 4K at 30 frames per second, while pros will be able to record ProRes video up to 4K at 60 frames per second, albeit they will need to connect external storage to do so.

Can You Make The Decision ?

It seems that there is no denying that the new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are superior to models from the previous year. Though there aren't any brand-new features that are as eye-catching as the Dynamic Island was when it was first released, the various incremental upgrades add up. Because of this, these phones are now lighter, more attractive, more powerful, and more adaptable. They also have quicker data transfer and substantially better cameras all around.

There isn't a single new feature on the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max that calls out "upgrade" if you already own one, but you won't regret it if you do. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be a significant boost if you're replacing an older handset. And, owing to the newly added USB-C connector, many Android users may contemplate switching; they won't be disappointed, since these new iPhones are, in many respects, the most powerful phones available.
